Dear Colleagues,
The 5th Turkish Stroke Academy will be organized online on 17-19 December 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic as we did last year. However, we will also organize half-day face-to-face hands-on courses for certain number of participants (Neurosonology, Nuronutrition, Neuroimaging, Interventional Neurology). These courses will be held in different cities to the extent the Covid-19 pandemic allows. Furthermore, there will also be oral/poster presentations at our congress where the participants are expected to draft their presentations that will be suitable for the online format.
Stroke patients are the most common group of patients that neurologists see at emergency departments and neurology clinics. After a long stagnation in the treatment of stroke, there have been stunning developments in recent years. These developments are observed to change both stroke neurologists’ way of performing their profession and also treatment outcomes of patients substantially. Developments have accelerated in the field of stroke, which requires those working in this field to adapt to new advancements. The stroke directive has been recently introduced thanks to the efforts of the Turkish Society of Cerebrovascular Diseases, physicians working in this field and other interested parties. It regulates what should be done for the management of acute stroke patients and how it should be done by relevant people ranging from neurologists working in this field to 112- Ambulance staff. The directive also provides that neurologists have the authority and responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke.
Several national and international scientists will attend the congress as speakers, where they will present and discuss main themes about stroke as well as sub-themes including recent developments, controversial issues and practical problems.
